                       Ukraine

Ukraine is situated in the south-eastern part of Europe. It borders on Russia, Moldova, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland and Belarus.

Therere are the Carpathian Mountains with the highest peak Hoverla in the west of Ukraine. 

There are the Crimean Mountains with the highest peak Roman-Kosh in the south of the country.

Ukraine is washed by the Black Sea and the Azov Sea.

Ukraine is a country of many rivers. The largest rivers are the Dnipro, the Dniester, the Danube, the Southern Buh, the Siverskiy Donets and the Tysa.

The main ports are Odesa, Kherson, Mykolayiv, Mariupil and Sebastopol.

There are over 3,000 lakes throughout Ukraine. The largest freshwater lakes are Lake Yalpuh and Lake Svytiaz.

The climate of Ukraine moderately continental.

The climate of the Crimea is subtropical. Summer is hot and dry. Winter is more often rainy than snowy. 

Kyiv is the capital of Ukraine. Ukraine consists of 24 regions and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. The regions are: Vinnitsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Zakarpattia, Zaporizhzhia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Luhansk, Lviv, Mykolayiv, Odesa, Poltava, Rivne, Sumy, Ternopil, Kharkiv, Kherson, Khmelnytskiy, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Chernivtsi and Volyn.

The UK is made up of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The rest of Ireland is an independent country. The official name of the country is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. There are also several islands which are closely linked with

the UK but are not a part of it: the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. They have their own governments and are called ‘Crown dependencies’. There are also several British overseas territories in other parts of the world, such as St Helena and the Falkland Islands.
